Yes, Frank...can you give me some examples of where you have seen the above in your reading? Where have you read that life is fair/unfair? Where do you learn about losing someone you really love? Do you think everyone experiences these things in life?

Jessie...glad you figured out how to comment- congrats! I'm really curious to know your answer to the "second mission" post?

reading is important because you need it everyday... to read a price of something or to order food in a resturant.

hii ms. crabtree.
what have i olearned from reading?
about my self... that i love to read and i use it as a excuse to get away from this horriable world.
that will i read i get to go to a world entirely my own. i love to read that is a reason. i learn that everything happens for a reason. that everything in the universe in connected to each other. i learned that life puts mission or tasks in front of you so that you can learn to deal with some thing. i learn slot about mmy self with reading. the most important thing i think i learned is what my biggest dream is. and with hope it may happen. but if it doesnt i can always read and imagine.

Well reading may be important because it shows us views on other people's lifes wether they're real people or not. It opens our eyes on life more and can teach us moral values. I have learned many new things from reading in my english class this year. I've mostly read books having to do with some type of phsycholigical abuse. The books I read where Girl interrupted, A Child called "IT" and Breathing Underwater.

I BELIEVE READING IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT HELPS YOU LEARN NEW WORDS AS WELL IT CAN HELP U EXPAND YOUR VOCABULARY WITH ALL THE NEW WORDS YOU ARE DISCOVERING.I CAN ALSO HELP YOU KEEP YOUR MIND OFF OF OTHER THINGS AS WELL AS KEEPING YOU OUT OF TROUBLE.WHAT I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT MYSELF IS THAT IF A BOOK IS ABOUT REAL LIFE SITUATIONS THAT I AM INTERESTED IN I WIIL KEEP ON READING IT UNTIL I FINISH IT UNLIKE WHEN IM READING A BOOK IM NOT INTERESTED IN , WHICH I JUST SKIM THROUGH AND FORGET ABOUT IT.I LEARNED THAT BECAUSE THIS CLASS REQUIRES READING FROM TIME TO TIME AND FROM EXPERIENCES THIS YEAR IVE REALIZED ALL OF THE ABOVE.
ALWAYS..IRMA

By reading books this year, I have found out that some authors write about things that I can relate to. For example, in Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs.Dunphrey the main character ends up having to take care of her 8 year old brother by herself while she is in high school because her father leaves them and her mother goes looking for him. I can relate to this because I have to take care of my sister sometimes and that is pretty tough.

miss i do agree that reading is important...i have learned alot this year with reading. although most of the books i have read ar fiction from reading all these books i find myself believing that some where a persin can relate to these books. i have learned to love reading in many ways. i did not enjoy reading as much before but now that i know the books that i like i can read 24/7.i love reading about how people have overcome many obsticles.

From reading throughout this year of 9th grade, I thought everything we did was important, because every detail that we have discuss about was about other's perspectives. I also agree with Frank opionion. Life is not perfect and sometimes you just loose someone you really love. I don't think everyone experience these things in life, maybe just some because some people are more overdramatic.

I think reading is important because you need to learn how to read tosurvive in life. If you can't read then you won't know how to do anything because an example is that if you bought something like a desk and you have to assemblie it yourself you wuld need to use the instruction manual and acually READ! This year was amazing fun when I was reading my independent books because all the books that I've read were really interesting! Some books made my eyes literally glued to the book because it was that interesting! REading books also needs imagination becuase you have to picture the things that are happening while you are reading and i think that is pretty cool. I've learned that reading books are't all that boring because I've discovered some books that have made me really get into them and actually like them. Some books are fun while others are boring that's why i pick the ones I like. Ms. Crabtree has open my eyes to reading so i thank you. :]

I don’t like reading because it’s not fun and all you do is stair at a book. Most of the books I had to finish reading for quizzes, I never finished it because I don’t like to read boring books. The only book I finished reading was Hard Ball. Hard ball is a nice book it has some funny chapters like chapters 8 when a kid named Billy goes to a baseball game and gets hit by the ball and his two front teeth fell out.

Reading is important because you learn more about different things how the character feels, imagine how they look, what they do,and how there life is going bad/good.

what i've learned from reading is that reading keeps you distracted from thing that are inappropriate and other things your not suppose to do. Its lie if reading takes you to a different demension where you see alot of people reading more than 10 books a month. I myself don't like reading but I would read an action book because that would keep me intertaned.

I think reading is important because you get better on your vocabulary and you learn about the world. I've learn that there is a lot of racism in this world because people think that they are better then others. However i also learn that i should be a good person to others because we are all the same.

reading helps you improve your vocabulary and spelling. I've learned that there are many different styles of literature, and new vocabulary words :] The only way i've learned all of this is by reading, many diferent types of books, from poems to novels to many other types!!

I REALLY DIDNT LIKE TO READ BUT KNOW THAT I CAME TO MS.CRABTREE CLASS I READ LIKE ALMOST EVERYDAY............WWHHHHHHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO MS. CRABTREE THE BEST TEACHER WHOOO HOOO...... =^)

I love all of your comments about why reading important. Especially what Alfredo said about it "building" your brain. What specific things have YOU learned from your reading this year? How did you learn it? I'm curious to know what you feel you have actually taken away from your books. For instance, something I've learned from a book I've read is that there are a lot of messages we are sent in the media that talk about sex and how "fun" it is. I don't know if I agree with that, but it was interesting to read in the book.

M. Crabtree said...

wow...it's really cool to see that you've discovered the world through your reading. When I was in high school, I also used reading as an escape AND as a window to the world. I think I would not have traveled to all of the countries or participated in all of the amazing experiences I have if not for expanding my imagination and reading when I was younger.

I think that the second mission of Ms.Crabtrees second mission is good because when we think about what she's asking us to do we understand it more and we think of what we have learned. So i think her second mission helps both us and the teacher to help us more. I think reading is important because it helps us on our future to comunicate with other people and learn better words. I'v learned how to read better i understand more words now and can comunicate better with my freinds without studering or not pronouncing the words wrong. When i read i now read better without studering or misprinouncing words so reading has helped in school and out of shcool.
